The H train rolls south over the hump from Decatur, passing the ABS signal, now lit, as it comes toward me. This spot works in your favor if chasing a heavy train south,=as most southbounds are. This one was 106 cars, and even with three ES 44's, it dragged over this short grade south of Decatur. Chasing a northbound on this line can be a chalnenge, since they are usually well powered for the tonnage of empty coal or grain cars. Loaded southbounds are much less of a challenge, as they work grades out of Sulphur Sprimgs, into Decatur, and again into Siloam. |
