12th Street. Here is an original photo that I took of a Pennsylvania Railroad train in Altoona, Pennsylvania, during November of 1965. Shown here (L to R) are PRR engines #5886 and another unit whose number is not recorded. Both were built by EMD. #5886 is an EP-22 built in 1950 and rated at 2,250 horsepower. They are stopped at the Altoona Station with a New York City-bound passenger train, after having come down the Allegheny Mountains via the Horseshoe Curve from Pittsburgh. Note the antique and modern versions of the 12th Street Bridge, as well as the Father & Son watching the mail being loaded into the farthest car on the right. |
