Built by the Reading in 1913, the Belle Mead Station served until it was closed in 1981, and is amazingly still intact today.

It's amazing how some of these stations have lasted long after the last train pulled away. The DLW has buildings still intact along its ROW-several towers and a few stations in PA-that have not seen any attention in decades. I'm surprised that the stations on this route were not demolished, given the high property taxes in Jersey, as well as the liability concerns. This was a fun train to ride. I did it in 1981 about three months before the end, on the Crusader with RDC's. Those things could fly!!
