MON F3A 81A - Monon RR  Contributor's Pick!
Built by EMD in May of 1947, it was later renumbered 201. The location was identified as Hammond, IN but there are several discrepancies on the labeling. Can anyone confirm this location as Hammond? The photo was made from an original negative taken by an unknown Chicago photographer.

Mike Maskel General NICE SHOT 11/19/2016 10:12:29 AM
Jim Ford General Neat shot. I love trains that would fit full-length on a small layout. The lead car looks like a converted troop sleeper. 11/19/2016 10:42:05 AM
Eric Reinert General Close- this is immediately West of State Line Tower on the Illinois side. She's still on the Chicago & Western Indiana here, Southbound, about to get onto Monon rails in the next mile. You can see the South Shore catenary in the background. 8/8/2017 10:54:03 AM
Eric Reinert General Yes Jim Ford- the express car is a converted troop sleeper. All the Monon's passenger cars were converted from US Army Hospital cars as well. They were frugal and had highly skilled shops in Lafayette. Note the rear car is in the black and gold scheme. 8/8/2017 10:58:51 AM
