A pair of KCS GP40-3s roll light headed for home at the newly built Wylie Intermodal Ramp. KCS 2822 GP40-3 was originally built for Western Pacific as WP 3514 GP40 in April 1967, becoming UP 663 on April 18, 1984, KCS 2810 was built as WP 3506 GP40 in May 1966, becoming UP 655 on December 23, 1985. Both were retired on April 5, 1993, upon lease expiration and rebuilt by Morrison-Knudsen for Kansas City Southern. WP 3514/UP 663 emerged from the M-K Boise shop as KCS 4777 GP40-2 on January 13, 1994, and was later renumbered KCS 2822 after Dash 3 upgrades. WP 3506/UP 655 emerged from the M-K Boise as KCS 4769 GP40-2 on December 10, 1993, and was later renumbered 2810 after Dash 3 upgrades. |
