There were many transitions being made in railroading at this time in history. One that did not involve corporate intrigue was this one, seen on the Southwest Chief leaving Union Station. The car directly under me, with the roofline that starts low and ends high, is an ex Santa Fe car, designed to allow movement from low level equipment to the former Santa Fe hi level cars, which were prominent features of travel in the west in these pre Superliner times. |
