The Southern Pacific only owned 25 SD70M units, so finding one on the front of a train five years after the UP merger was pretty special. The 9818 was on a run-through train from the Norfolk Southern and was parked on the NS Outer Belt at Marconi Drive waiting for a UP crew. The train's other locomotives were SP B23-7 5113 and UP-patched SD50 5102, still painted in Rio Grande colors. |
