BNSF 5530 southern of three in the road readiness lane sporting the ever-present complimentary color scheme A/C unit... which I would presume is not seeing use today. (Side bar: no - I couldnt find a single point in the entire frame in focus, so its not your eyes going funky. Shot at 1/1000s (not 1/100!) f6.3 ISO 800 (because of snow Id clicked up the exposure compensation dial 2/3 stops - you know, because snow isnt gray - 180mm equivalent zoom (approx 10x zoom - no, not digital, optical... the camera says it can go out to 30x optical - although if youre not going to bother having anything in focus, heck, why not use the digital zoom, too? Just kidding. I think.) - Any hints yet if its me or the camera? (If I didnt still have the broken Canon, I might consider it being me and getting older (not just crankier) and less steady... but, dang, folks - thats 1/1000s at less than 200mm - with image stabilization - yes, Ive tried it on a tripod and not better (but the camera does say its on a tripod when I do it - so at least its a smart camera, even if just as blind as myself - its one of the reasons I ditched the real camera (Pentax k1000... yes, Im that old... yes, I used it forever) - because my eyesight was shot and I couldnt manually focus - luckily the digital camera revolution had started at that time, so I went to pocket snappers (well, as small as the Olympus 340 was at the time - it was smaller than my Pentax with a 28-80mm zoom and covered about the same range of optical zoom... at a huge whopping 1-3Mb image size(!) - but that original Oly could still out-focus me on any given day. I still have the Pentax (no sense wasting money to purchase a weight set/hand dumbbell - I just put the 300mm lens on the body and hoist away for five or ten minutes... Im cranky, blind, and round - but frugal) - anyway - to say the least, my adventure in trying a Sony camera has been less than stellar. |
