UP 4527 showing up at third at the front of an eastbound mixed freight sneaking under the arc of a section of circle irrigator (for the uninitiated, when you look down with your-choice of satellite image in maps, all those circles are due to irrigation using a central point (water entering the system) flowing through a mobile pipeline running outward in a line with periodic wheels down to the ground - it slowly rotates, then depending on the irrigation head and type (and crop below) waters the fertile, but dry ground... unless youre a dryland farmer, then youre off in the shed drinking, talking about hunting, and discussing the weather. (Just kidding - family kin are drylanders, its just funny to listen to dinner conversation when an irrigation farmer is invited to meals to hear the difference of opinions and the good-hearted jokes between the two ways of providing food to America.) |
