CB&Q Class XM-4A 48250
Chicago Burlington & Quincy Railroad Class XM-4A 48250 at Eola, Illinois on an unknown day in October 1980, Kodachrome by Chuck Zeiler. I could not find information about this series of cars ( 47800 - 48276 ) but they have the same dimensions and capacity as the previous series, so the following will be used from the book, CB&Q Color Guide to Freight and Passenger Equipment, by Michael J. Spoor: Built at Havelock ( CB&Q Shops in Nebraska ) in 1963, it was part of Class XM-4 which consisted of 300 cars built to a Northern Pacific design. Featuring single-sheathed, outside post construction with 8' plug main doors and 6' auxiliary plug doors, grain access doors ( at the top of the main door ) and a 5,080 cu. ft. capacity, these cars were numbered 47500 - 47799 . This car was stenciled: BLT.6.64
