Oh how I miss my EL.  Contributor's Pick!
No job I've had since then has brought the satisfaction and rewards that my time on the EL brought. I know we tend to look back and remember only the good times, forgetting the bad. For me, the good far outweighed the bad. Good night from memory lane.

Tom Beckett General Looks like a 2NY100-note the distinctive UPS trailers-early on a typically foggy summer morning behind a trio of SDP45's. Starrucca still stands, though is used now only a half dozen times PER WEEK by the NYSW to move cars from the Northern Division to Jersey. The line in the foreground is the D&H Penn Division, itself now almost 40 years gone, and now an empty roadbed. Ironically, it was the D&H acquisition of another piece of the EL, the ex DLW from Binghamton to Scranton, in 1980 that doomed the Penn Division as a through route. The rails in the photo stayed in place to Jefferson Jct, just south of the viaduct, til late 1985 when the Belden Tunnel enlargement project was completed. The line, and a connection to the ex Erie was used as a detour route while the project was underway. Nice set, and good memories. 4/1/2017 4:23:05 AM
