CN 4705
A CN local emerges from a long, narrow, curved gap between two warehouses as it approaches Garfield Ave. at Menasha, WI on 18 Jun. '17. They have just finished servicing Chemtrade (formerly General Chemical Corp.) east of Washington St. on Doty Island. The scene is framed by the former C&NW depot/yard office at left and the C&NW freight house at right. The station sign says Neenah but it is actually located in Menasha. The border between the Twin Cities is about 750 feet to the south (right). The depot/yard office and freight house were built by the C&NW in 1965.

Richard Hopfensperger General Nice catch. I'd like to see the CNW GP9 in the freight house door. (For those unfamiliar, CNW would park their yard engine, usually a GP9 on the tracks that went into the freight house overhead door. In this photo, the tracks are already removed. Sometimes in the winter months, the Geep would be parked inside.) 8/28/2017 5:50:55 PM
T. P. Bruss General Touché Richard, thank you Mike. 8/29/2017 4:59:01 AM
