An empty coal train approaches E. Snell Rd. as it heads southwest via CN, former SOO, rails at Oshkosh, WI on 22 Jul. '17. Train had 3 locomotives, UP 6804, UP 7246, UP 6771. Train was likely returning from Wisconsin Public Service's Pulliam Power Plant, a.k.a. J. P. Pulliam Generating Station, at Green Bay, WI. I captured the same trio of locomotives hauling a northbound loaded coal train at Stroebe, WI on 16 Jul. I was surprised to notice that all three locomotives must have been turned on a wye at some point, all three were cab forward heading north and now they are all cab forward heading south. I was standing at what used to be the former C&NW grade crossing. The border between the City of Oshkosh and the Town of Oshkosh is quite convoluted in this area. The land to the left of the active rails in front of me and the land on both sides of the active rails behind me is the Town of Oshkosh, but the land to the right of the active rails in front of me is the City of Oshkosh. Go about 400' behind me and the land on both sides of the active rails is the City of Oshkosh. |
