NS 60N meets NS 64K  Contributor's Pick!
Traffic was running irregularly this evening in Tyrone, Pennsylvania. Trains were running opposite main and all of the westbounds we saw were literally crawling past us. One even stopped, blocking the crossing briefly. Amtrak was forced to do station work on track two, the track that is not next to the platform. They unloaded passengers in the middle of the railroad crossing, which is pretty unusual to see. At 5:15pm on Thursday August 18, 2017, eastbound loaded ethanol train 64K crawled around the bend at the Amtrak Station in Tyrone, Pennsylvania. Seven minutes later, it finally crawled to a halt, just as we heard a westbound train, moving at track speed, blowing for the railroad crossing. At 5:22pm, westbound loaded slab train 60N rounded the curve in Tyrone with NS #9592 (C44-9W) and NS #2571 (SD70). Even though it's just a dash nine, I really like this shot!
