Chicago Burlington & Quincy Railroad Office Car 97 at Princeton, Illinois on an unknown date, ( circa 1940 ), photograph by Duncan Bryant, Marshall Pochay collection. Number 97 was built by the CB&Q at Aurora, Illinois in 1882 as number 153, a 50 foot coach. In 1915 the Aurora Shops added 14 feet to the middle and the 153 became Office Car 97 and assigned to the General Superintendent, Iowa District. Around 1940 it was assigned to the rail detector crew for accommodations away from home. In 1951, number 97 was renumbered to 251110 and continued in detector service until 1959, when it was replaced and dismantled. |
