One of five units built for the Wabash Railroad in the winter of 1953, this locomotive was originally numbered WAB 130 and also served Norfolk & Western and Norfolk Southern. The Pfizer Corporation acquired the unit from an equipment dealer in 1991 and used it to move cars around their facility in Groton, CT until 2002 when it was acquired for preservation by the museum. It is one of two former Wabash SW-8s to survive in the northeast today, the other, former WAB 132, painted as DL&W 500 at Steamtown in Scranton, PA. |
