Here is the first of four photos of the wreck that took place at the Pennsylvania Railroad's Kladder Station ~ located between Roaring Spring and Hollidaysburg, Pennsylvania ~ on 4 March 1926. It was included in the "Altoona Area Railroad Pictorial History" edited by Linda White and published in 1996 by The Altoona Mirror, page 16. Photo Caption: "Several cars remain off the track after a passenger train traveling from Cumberland, Md., to Altoona derailed at the Kladder Stations Crossing near Catfish Road on March 4, 1926." Visible on the left is the undercarriage of the train's locomotive, Pennsylvania Railroad E-3SD (4-4-2) "Atlantic" #3001. The boom of the Railroad's wrecking crane is also visible in the distance. |
