This 1915 Climax (serial #1359) holds a very special place at the BC Forest Discovery Centre. As the only operational (authentic) Climax in Canada, and one of a very few in the world, No.9 is a rare locomotive. Originally built for the M.D. Olds Lumber Company of Birch, Michigan, it spent its working days at several subsidiary loggling companies in Vancouver area. Eventually retired in 1968, it was donated to the Cowichan Valley Forest Museum, now the BC Forest Discovery Centre. |
