| An original photo of the 1914 Alco built 2-10-2 Santa Fe type steam locomotive loaded with coal at an unidentified location, porbably Lafayette yard area. As the Monon's fortunes declined in the late 1930s, four of the eight 2-10-2's were sold to the Tennessee RR in 1944-45 and the others were scrapped between 1941-47.CIL #604 was one sold for scrap in October of 1946. Specs - class L-1, 57" drivers, 190 psi boiler pressure, 28x30" cylinders, engine weight of 341,000 lb, tractive effort of 66,640 lb. Unknown photographe and no date or location given for the photo. |
