| This was International Paper's REDWOOD MILL at Ballground, Mississippi. Prior to the mill's opening in 1967 the Illinois Central built a 29-mile line between Valley and Redwood Junction just to serve it. It was the last major line construction by the IC, but most of the line was abandoned in 1975 because of poor foundation conditions. When this photo was taken, the plant was served by MidSouth Rail. |
