Bruce Flaws	General	Robert, The Second Diesel Spotter's Guide (Kalmbach Books, Pinkepank) 4th edition (1980) describes this as a filter box for paper air filters. Don't know for sure, but may be a retrofiit that occurred during the rebuild of these units by SP, as the filter box addition on newer units only became available in 1971.	5/10/2018 4:08:01 PM
