PC Power. Here is a duplicate 35mm color slide via Al Chione that was taken in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, on 24 May 1970. The photographer is not identified. Shown here is Penn Central Railroad engine #8378, a DS 4-4-660 built by the Baldwin Locomotive Works for the Pennsylvania Railroad as number "9032" in May of 1949, rated at 660 horsepower, and remumbered "8378" in preparation for the PRR-NYC merger. According to Mr. Mark Branibar, "DS44-660 #8378 was the former PC (PRR paint) 7882, which was the former PRR 9032. Never received PC paint. This was as far as it got before retirement on February 21, 1971." |
