Saga Of The DD-1's, Page 36, 1956         
Here is page nine of an 11-page cover article by Frederick Westing entitled "The Locomotive That Made Penn Station Possible." It was published originally in the October 1956 issue of "Trains" magazine, page 36. Photo Caption: "Manhattan Transfer when it was new: DD-1 No. 12 arrives with an express that includes all-steel Pullman parlors behind the engine." #12 actually consists of #3956 and #3957. Both are DD-1's (2-B+B-2) built in Juniata during July of 1910 and rated at 3,160 horsepower; both were transferred to the Long Island Rail Road in January of 1928 and renumbered: #3956 became "347-A" and #3957 became "347-B."
