GN 34108
Chicago Burlington & Quincy Railroad GP7 241 setting out GN 34108 at Waterman, Illinois on an unknown day in June 1963, photograph by Chuck Zeiler. This was the Oregon Way Freight, which I rode occasionally in 1963 and 1964. It was the last mixed train out of Eola. In place of the usual waycar, this train featured a 40 foot combine number 3003. In addition to serving freight customers between Aurora and Oregon, the way freight also provided passenger accommodations between those two points. On this date I was the only passenger, somewhat irritating to the Conductor ( the gentleman on the boxcar, "Hummy" Humiston ), who had to fill out additional paperwork for a single passenger.
