Southern Railway No. 115, the run-through train from Birmingham to the Missouri Pacific at New Orleans, was about five miles away from the end of its journey at the east end of the Huey P. Long Bridge as it rumbled over the Orleans Avenue canal bridge. Back when car use charges were computed on a daily basis, with a midnight cut-off, the Southern scheduled No. 115 and SP run-through train No. 193 out of Birmingham so they were delivered in the late evening, getting those cars off of its property before midnight!
