Here is the sixth of eight original photos that were taken by an unidentified photographer at the Pennsylvania Railroad's Horseshoe Curve near Altoona, Pennsylvania, perhaps during 1957. Shown here (L to R) are PRR engines #7050, #7113, and another "Geep" whose number is not recorded. All are EFS-17M's built by GM-EMD and rated at 1,750 horsepower each; #7050 was built in October of 1956 while #7113 was outshopped in May of 1957. They are pushing a mixed-cargo freight train as it rounds the Curve on its way up the Allegheny Mountains to Gallitzin and points West Also visible is PRR & Railway Express N-5 cabin car #5001. |
