A pair of visitors from out-of-town lead a CN through freight along Hwy. 41, past American Colloid Co., 901 Acco Ave., and approaching the Hwy. G overpass, while headed southwest via former C&NW rails at Snells, WI on 28 Jul. '18. Snells, formerly known as Snell’s Station or Snell’s Crossing, is now little more than a map dot in the Town of Neenah, Winnebago Co. This once small, rural community included a depot, cheese factory, sawmill, school, and stockyard. It does not look like any substantial remnants of the community remain, even the station sign, erected after the depot was removed, is gone. The SOO rails run parallel between the train and the highway. |
