Huntingdon. Here is a duplicate 35mm color slide of a photo by Bill Price that was taken at the Passenger Station in Huntingdon, Pennsylvania, on 8 October 1946. Shown here is Pennsylvania Railroad engine #6879, an M-1 (4-8-2) "Mountain" built by the Baldwin Locomotive Works during October of 1926 and retired in March of 1953 after 27 years of faithful service. In this context, it's pulling a mixed-cargo freight train out of Altoona through the Station to Enola. (SFM) |
