Here is page 51 of the April 1946 issue of "Trains" magazine. It's the second page of a four-page review of Mr. Edward Hungerford's 1945 book entitled "A Railroad For Tomorrow." The reviewer is Professor Richard C. Overton of Northwestern University in Evanston, Illinois. Caption: "Under the Hungerford plan, many lines are rearranged to take advantage of favorable combinations of railroad. For instance, in New England the Hoosac Tunnel portion of the Boston & Maine's Boston-Albany line is combined with the easy eastern portion of the Boston & Albany. The book includes nine main line and terminal maps." |
