SLSF 4-6-2 #1007 - St Louis-San Francisco (Frisco)
If the date on this photo is correct, this Alco-Brooks 4-6-2 looks like it has just been delivered even though it has served over 45 years. A note on the back of the photo states "on '20-21'" - not sure what this reference is. Jonathan Spurlock (see comment below) has speculated it is in reference to train #20/21 which makes sense. Thanks, Jonathan! Built by Alco-Brooks in February of 1904, it was one of the first Pacifics on the Frisco roster. Specs - serial #28697, class 1000, 69" drivers, 200 psi boiler pressure, 20x26" cylinders, engine weight of 193,550 lb, tractive effort of 25,623 lb. No photographer was listed for the photo.

Rev. Jonathan Spurlock General Gary, just a guess but the reference might be to trains 20/21. Of note is the car coupled directly to the engine--it looks like it's an old open platform car. Also, Frisco once had a line from Springfield to Kansas City passing through western Missouri towns like Clinton. The website for the Belton, Grandview and Kansas City museum and tourist line has more info on that route. 3/29/2020 12:00:42 PM
