PRR 5771, BP-20, c. 1954         
Oil Power. Here is a duplicate 35mm color slide of Pennsylvania Railroad engine #5771 and four more passenger "Sharks" whose road numbers are not recorded. All are BP-20's built by the Baldwin Locomotive Works and rated at 2,000 horsepower each. #5771 was built in June of 1948 and retired in May of 1965 after just 17 years of service. Note the "Mars" headlight. The photographer's name, the date, and the location are not recorded. Produced and distributed by FJC Products of Newport, DE.

Tom Beckett General This power will take over from GG 1's that have come down from Penn Station NY with trains to Bay Head. South Amboy was quite a place for many years, and where a lot of Pennsy power ran out its final days-steam, Sharks, E 7's, E 8's, GG 1's, the last three long after PRR vansihed from the scene. 1/21/2022 3:38:02 AM
