This year for vacation, my family and I planned on a week up in the Mintac region of Minnesota to view the sights and sounds of Iron Range Mining (and of course, Taconite Trains. However, while looking at our schedule, it was apparent that UP 4014 was going to make an appearance out in Boone IA the day before we planned on leaving. Of course, we didnt want to miss out on that, so we scheduled our trip for a day earlier and went out to Iowa. We stayed at the Super 8 Motel in Jefferson, and began the next day trackside at Grand Junction to view the Big Boy Pass, then we would chase it to Boone. The first train of the day was this westbound manifest led by 3 Armour Yellow GEs. |
