ARB. Here is a duplicate 35mm color slide (converted to B&W) that was taken in Altoona, Pennsylvania, 1954. Shown here are seven sets of unidentified Pennsylvania Railroad locomotives ~ two coal-fired and five oil-powered. In the foreground is a "J" Class (2-10-4) "Texas" coupled to an N-5 cabin car and a pair of Baldwin-built "Centipedes." They're about to pass under the 8th Street Bridge in Juniata, perhaps on their way to pick up a train in Hollidaysburg and then head up the New Portage Branch via the Muleshoe Curve to Gallitzin and points West. The photographer's name, the locomotive road numbers, and the exact date are not recorded. |
