AHC. Here is a duplicate 35mm color slide of a photo by Robert R. Malinoski that was taken at the Horseshoe Curve near Altoona, Pennsylvania, on 11 September 1953. Shown here (L to R) are Pennsylvania Railroad engines #9548, #9548-B, and #9549. All were built by GM-EMD as EH-15's in November of 1948, rated at 1,500 horsepower each, and later regeared and reclassified as EF-15A's. In this context, they're rounding the Curve with a mixed-cargo freight train on its way to Altoona and points East. ("PrrFan18n") |
