Southern Pacific NW2R 1332 was parked at the edge of the French Quarter in New Orleans, at the corner of Conti Street (off to the right) and Clay Street (behind the photographer). The SP kept one or more locomotives here for many years, to switch several miles of isolated trackage along the east bank of the Mississippi River. As traffic in this area declined, the SP turned over its few remaining customers to the New Orleans Public Belt around 1980. |
