ARB. Here is a duplicate 35mm color slide via Al Chione that was taken in Altoona, Pennsylvania, in September of 1962. The photographer is not identified. Shown here (L to R) are Pennsylvania Railroad engine #9521 and three more "EF" Class units whose road numbers are not recorded. All were built by GM-EMD and rated at 1,500 horsepower each. #9521 is an EF-15 constructed in May of 1948 and retired in February of 1963 after just 15 years of revenue service. In this context, this A-B-B-A set is about to pass under the 8th Street in Juniata with an iron-ore train on its way up the Allegheny Mountains to the steel mills of Pittsburgh. ("PrrFan18n") |
