Price. Here is a photo by Bill Price that was taken near Newport, Pennsylvania, on 11 October 1956. Shown here is Pennsylvania Railroad engine #6738, an M-1B (4-8-2) "Mountain" built by the the Baldwin Locomotive Works as an M-1A during July of 1930, rebuilt in Juniata as an M-1B in October of 1948, and retired in September of 1959 after 29 years of faithful service. In this context, it's pulling a mineral train from the coal mines of Western Pennsylvania to the yards in Enola. (Gift from Brad Mann.) |
