ARB. Here is an original 35mm color slide by Frank Ries that was taken in Altoona, Pennsylvania, in August of 1965. Prominent here (R to L) are Pennsylvania Railroad engine #9787 and a pair of "EF" Class B-units whose road numbers are not recorded. All were built by GM-EMD and rated at 1,500 horsepower each. #9787 was constructed in February of 1951 and retired in December of 1966 after just 15 years of revenue service. Partially visible in the distance is the PRR's Erecting & Machine Shop. Photo taken from the 8th Street Bridge in Juniata. |
