| Norfolk Southern C44-9W 9256 was sitting on the BNSF-Wabtec interchange, about a mile and a half north of Wabtec’s Fort Worth plant. The locomotive was on its way to the plant where it would be upgraded into an AC44C6M. Its builder’s sticker listed it as serial number 51131, built in October 1998 with a weight of 410,000 pounds. The 9256 was one of seven NS C44-9W units (9250-9256) which wore special OPERATION LIFESAVER 25th anniversary logos and lettering. |
