Coal Power. Here is a duplicate 35mm color slide by an unidentified photographer that was taken in Bay Head Junction, New Jersey, in July of 1954. Shown here (R to L) are Pennsylvania Railroad engine #3807 and three more locomotives whose road numbers are not recorded. All are K-4S (4-6-2) "Pacifics." #3807 was built in Juniata during March of 1923 and retired in August of 1957 after 34 years of service. In this context, these locomotives are being examined by railfans during one of the PRR's famous "Off The Beaten Path" excursions. |
