Here is the third of four original photos by Douglas C. Jones that were taken from the 17th Street Bridge in the Juniata section of Altoona, Pennsylvania, c. 1953. Prominent here is Pennsylvania Railroad engine #6432, a J-1A (2-10-4) "Texas" built in Juniata during September of 1943 and retired in April of 1958 after just 15 years of service. In this context, it's just exited the East Altoona Roundhouse but has stopped short of the Bridge. The road numbers of the other locomotives pictured here are not recorded. |
