Nice to post a photo of a Hoosier based locomotive like this B&O 2-8-2 Mikado #454. Built by Baldinw in December of 1922, it was originally numbered BO 4481 but rebuilt in 1941 with 70" drivers, a new tractive effort of 65,500 lb and reclassified as Q-4C. It lasted until being retired in December of 1958 at the Willard, Ohio yard. Original specs - serial #55870, class Q-4B, 64" drivers, 200 psi boiler pressure, 26x32" cylinders, engine weight of 327,400 lb, tractive effort of 63,200 lb. Max Miller photo |
