PO-3 with BM 330 and two empty flatcars from Casco Bay Steel crosses the Saco River into Biddeford, Maine as they return to the Freight Main at the AR switch. This shot had been on my list for a while but I could never time it to work with the sun as typically this branch is worked in the late evening or after dark. This part of the line was once part of B&M's Eastern Route. About a mile and a half (geographically) north of this spot, the Saco Industrial makes a sharp left turn while the Eastern Route continued straight. The timing worked out well as I could hear POAY blowing its horn for Main St. in Biddeford while waiting for this train, as the Freight Main is only about a quarter of a mile to the right. |
