| The GN moved a few 2-8-8-2s from the Rocky Mtn district to the MN iron range around 1943. Steam ended on the GN with the fall grain rush of 1957, but this R1 steam engine sits near Duluth Mn in 1960. These articulated steam enginese were 119 feet long with the tender. They were about 6,300 HP. Todays deisels are about 4,400 HP. |
