Crossing Center Street
Like nearly every crossing on the WSOR by this point in time, the Milwaukee Road or C&NW-era 8" incandescent lamps on the signals have been replaced with 12" LEDs. However, this crossing has not yet had the entire signals replaced with new gated ones, and the uniquely small, high-pitched Western Railroad Supply Co. "mini" mechanical bell remains. It seems the Milwaukee Road was a fairly heavy user of these bells, with at least two or three remaining on all of WSOR's ex-MILW lines out of Madison until the signal replacements began in earnest under Watco ownership in the mid-2010s.
