"Long Island Rail Road," Page 42, 1949
Here is page three of a ten-page article by Rae Ediger entitled "Long Island Rail Road." It was published originally in the March 1949 issue of "Trains" magazine, page 42. Revised Caption: "A capacity load of New York-bound commuters hurries through Sunnyside Yard on the outside iron, while in the foreground an 11-car train rolls back after discharging its crowd in [Penn] station." Discernable in the hazy distance is the spire of the Empire State Building, just two city blocks east of Penn Station.
