This brick tower along the Norfolk Southern at EAST CITY JUNCTION in New Orleans opened in 1954 and replaced a block office at this location. It was closed on 10 August 1972, but survived Hurricane Katrina in 2005 and was still standing in 2022. The track on the right is the beginning of the ST. LOUIS STREET LINE, which was once the main line to the Southern Railway’s TERMINAL STATION on Basin Street at Canal Street; while the construction on the left was for the First Baptist Church, which was being built on former railroad property.
