Here is the second of two successive photos by John S. Fisher that were taken in Columbus, Ohio, in May of 1957. Caption On Reverse: "PRR 'J.' Columbus, Ohio. May, 1957." Shown here is Pennsylvania Railroad engine #6472, a J-1 (2-10-4) "Texas" built in Juniata in February of 1943 and retired in April of 1958 after just 15 years of revenue service. Visible just beyond the "J" is an A-B-A set of GM-EMD "EF" Class diesel locomotives; their kind will soon displace all steam power on the PRR. |
