This 4-8-2 mountain type loco was built by Alco-Brooks in January of 1923 for Union Pacific as #7861. The loco was immediately leased to the Los Angeles & Salt Lake subsidiary and served passenger service there until retirement in March of 1953. Specs - 73" drivers, 200 psi boiler pressure, 29x28" cylinders, engine weight of 340,000 lb, tractive effort of 54,838 lb. No date or location was given for the photo so approximations were used.
