Built by Lima in April of 1944 as Pere Marquette 2-8-4 Berkshire #1238 (serial #8460, class N-2). this might loco served the Pere Marquette well in both passenger and freight service. In 1947 when the PM was finally merged into the C&O roster, it was never renumbered. In January of 1958, it was written off the C&O roster and sat in the former Pere Marquette New Buffalo, MI, yard until being scrapped in 1961. Final specs - 70" drivers, impressive 245 psi boiler pressure, 26x34" cylinders, engine weight of 456,100 lb, tractive effort of 69,350 lb with booster adding 14,400 lb.
